Prospective Members

Prospective members,

Welcome back to Wesleyan for what will assuredly be an excellent spring semester. The fall semester saw the induction of twelve of your exemplary peers into our ranks, and seeing them as the model gentlemen of the Class of 2011, we are excited for the spring rush period. Should you, like these gentlemen, be interested in joining our ranks, allow me to paint a swift picture of our fraternity for you.

The Xi Chapter of Psi Upsilon has a long and storied history. Our Chapter House is the oldest fraternity house in the country, built in 1893. It boasts twenty-two of the nicest rooms on campus, as well as a massive space for social events and gatherings, a number of smaller common areas, a library, and dining facilities where meals are served twice a day. Psi U has more to offer, however, than material benefits. We have a long tradition of fostering in our undergraduate brothers the values that are needed to move into the world after graduation to do great things and make a positive impact. We have a long tradition, in other words, of producing extraordinary gentlemen. Written in the 1844 version of the Constitution of Psi Upsilon Fraternity, "the object of our fraternity is the union of all of its members for the promotion of the highest moral, intellectual, and social excellence." The Psi U brother takes this declaration to heart and uses what he learns to benefit others by being a valuable member and a leader in the Wesleyan community.

This is but a sketch of what Psi U is all about. If you are interested in learning more about our fraternity, please bring your questions to any of us. We can be found in all aspects of student life, ranging from the classroom to student government and varsity athletics. Always feel comfortable approaching any of us with your questions as we will be delighted to answer them. I encourage you also to come down to our house for a meal (served at noon and six o'clock on weekdays) or to come to one of our rush events. Lastly, you can contact me personally at ckurose@wesleyan.edu if there is anything that I can do to assist you.

Sincerely,

Charles E. A. Kurose
President - Spring 2008
